Training Tips and Advice

Sportives and cycling events are a huge amount of fun and can be very challenging. If you want to make the most out of the experience, then training is vital. Here's our top tip when it comes to training for a sportive and riding it.

Bike fit

If you're planning a sportive that isn't shy of distance, then having a bike fit will be so beneficial to your ride. A Bikefit is where a professional will adjust your bike to suit your body. It will make you much more comfortable, efficient, and makes riding much easier.

Training Plan

Having a training plan for your sportives is a great way to ensure your going to be at your best ability when race day comes round. It can condition you for the workload you'll have to do on the day, and it's going to make it much more enjoyable as you know what to expect.

Train Smart and Hard

Although doing lots of miles outdoors in your training does benefit your riding, you will get much more value out of a proper structured program and doing some work on the turbo trainer. Interval and power sessions that can challenge you correctly go a long way, especially for those who are tight on time.
Many cyclists will rent a turbo trainer for a few months prior to a big challenge so they can do proper structured training and get the most fitness possible before taking on a big ride or event. If you want to rent a Turbo Trainer you can here.
If you don't like riding indoors, another great tool to get the most out of your training is using a power meter. This uses strain gauge technology and tells you the amount of power you're generating on the bike. This data really helps your training, and it can show you improvements over time. Race Wheels

If you really want to improve your performance and make the riding easier, the best upgrade you can make is race wheels. Race wheels are typically made of carbon fiber and are incredibly lightweight, strong, and aerodynamic. They will make the work much easier and give you a huge advantage over people with aluminum wheelsets. For Race Wheel rental click here.

Conclusion

The UK is full of the best sportives, and you don't have to travel far to experience great riding. These are some of our favourite rides on the UK calendar, but there are many more such as the Tour de Yorkshire. Whichever UK cycling events you choose, you will always have an epic adventure. Happy riding!
